Torrox is located only 7 km from Nerja and consists of 3 villages - Torrox Costa, Torrox Pueblo and Torrox Park. The best climate in Europe is said to be found here in Torrox. This is because the river Torrox opens up to the sea, making it cool in the summer and the mountains around keep the strong winds and bad weather away so it does not get too cold in the winter either. Turn off the main street, one block down you will find the beautiful beach promenade Paseo Maritimo, which goes from the lighthouse El Faro to the neighboring village El Morche. The promenade is lined with restaurants. The two villages Torrox Costa and El Morche are about to grow together. In a couple of years when the new production projects on the beach are finalized, it will only be a riverbed that separates the two villages. Torrox Pueblo is a cozy little Spanish mountain village, convienently located close to the coast, offering Spanish village life, narrow alleys and beautiful views. Here is the white houses climbing on to the hillside slope. The town ́s bigger square has bars and restaurants and a big church. On the smaller square you find an old church from the 16th century called "Iglesia o ermita de San Roque". In the countryside around Torrox Pueblo, or as they say in Spain - at the campo, you will find many houses with incredible views. In the mountains there are also many beautiful hiking trails. The views from the top of the mountains are incredibly beautiful. Torrox Park is a quiet residential village between Torrox Costa and Torrox Pueblo. Here you will also find the campsite of the area. It is only 1 km down to the lovely beach at Peñoncillo which has several cozy beach restaurants called Chirungitos in Spanish. In Torrox there are many opportunities to meet and celebrate. Last sunday before Christmas, the Torrox festival of Migas is celebrated. Migas is a traditional dish from the region made from fried bread bread, green peppers and chorizo. Thousands of visitors attend the festivities and taste the dish with wine. There is also music and dance at the festivity. In February, the National February Carnival will be celebrated with street musicians, competitions and parades.
