Europe's best climate
Torrox is only 7 km from Nerja and consists of 3 villages - Torrox Costa, Torrox Pueblo and Torrox Park. The best climate in Europe is said to be here in Torrox. This is because the river Torrox opens up towards the sea, which means that it cools in the summer and the surrounding mountains keep the strong winds and bad weather away so that there is not too cold a climate in the winter either. The area has over 320 days of sunshine a year. The climate in this part of Spain is subtropical and a lot of fruit is grown in valleys and on mountain slopes.

Close to the beach
Torrox Costa is located along the coast and has several nice beaches and a lovely long beach promenade were you can enjoy the sunset. Along the main street of the village you will find shops and on Mondays also the local markert. Turn off the main street, one block down you will find the beautiful beach promenade Paseo Maritimo, which goes from the lighthouse El Faro to the neighboring village El Morche. The promenade is lined with restaurants. The two villages Torrox Costa and El Morche are about to grow together. In a couple of years when the new production projects on the beach are finalized, it will only be a riverbed that separates the two villages.

Entertainment and activities
Along the promenade there are plenty of restaurants and bars and there are also some discos. For those who like activities, there is a diving center and gym.

Culture
In Torrox, people also like to take the opportunity to meet and celebrate. The last Sunday before Christmas, the Torrox festival is celebrated by Migas. Migas is a traditional dish from the region that is made from fried breadcrumbs, green peppers and chorizo. Thousands of visitors take part in the festivities and get to taste the dish with wine. There is also music and dancing at the party. In February, the national February carnival is celebrated with street musicians, competitions and parades. In May "Cruces de Mayo" is celebrated, in June "Quema de Los Juas" and in October "Fair Torrox".

Communications
There are good bus connections along the main road. You can easily and cheaply get to other places such as Nerja or Málaga.
